What could you have done to improve this learning experience?
I think that this week I could have improved my learning experience by looking at everything in each tab on blackboard. I misunderstood that it says blog post. I thought that that was the blog post from the weebly site. I was late posting my site to blackboard by a few minutes because I didn’t know where to post it. I thought that I had to just publish it and people could view it. I had my site all set up and published days before and I hope that I don’t get marked down. I think that listening from the modules would have helped me instead of reading them myself. I felt like that took longer reading it rather than listening. I also think I took a lot of notes but this is beneficial in my overall learning experience.
What could the professor have done to make this a better learning experience for you?
This is my very first online class and it is very different from being in a classroom. I feel that I did not know where to go or where I need to post stuff. I think the modules are a bit long, that’s the only thing I seemed to struggle with.
One suggestion that I do have is that I think that we should have a mass email that includes everyone’s weebly sites so everyone can easily click on them. I was also wondering if the teacher will give us continuous feedback throughout the semester on our questions or blogs and journals.
The 3 things I learned this week and how I see myself using these things as a professional.
1. I learned the ineffective and effective ways to communicate in an organization setting by understanding specific techniques to increase communication and productivity. While interning at the hospital, I plan to build connections and collaborate with my supervisor and other interns to enhance my communication through the use of the appropriate technology. Working together and sharing information will help any organizations and the people they assist.
2. I learned that as a social worker it is imperative to improve our knowledge in establishing our resources to help our clients. by looking up relevant information. Building this source list for future clients will be important. With these modules that were assigned I can apply them to better my clientele and sharing my resources to other social workers. The other day at my internship, my supervisor had a folder of a list of multiple resources for clients. If I have a client and I am unfamiliar about certain issues, it will be important to update and keep multiple list of resources for future clients.
3. I learned about the different technologies that are available and how there are many pros and cons within each different technology. In addition, I also learned that there are many databases and 2.0 websites available that can benefit social workers and improve their knowledge in certain topics. I now understand the best use of technology and why it is effective for social workers. There are appropriate or inappropriate ways to use technology when contacting clients or your supervisor. After viewing the modules, I thought about my pervious jobs and how my pervious supervisors used some of the techniques described in the modules. I plan to use appropriate use of technology when I am at my internship or as a professional.
