About Me
I am 24 years old and I am the youngest of two other siblings. I have a twin sister and an older sister who is 10 years older than me. I currently reside in a small town called Armada; however, I did not live there my whole life. I have two nephews Donovan is 6 and Miles 3. I love being a kid again around them. I enjoy volunteer work because I love giving back to my community. I am interested in studying gerontology and bereavement loss.
I went to Oakland University where I obtained my BSW. My internship was at Seasons Hospice, where I did bereavement calls and co-facilitated bereavement groups. I am in the advance standing masters social work program and I will be interning at Harper Hospital three days a week. I have always had a profound need to help others in my life, and it was not until a volunteer mission to Louisiana that confirmed my choice to be a social worker.
I think that transitioning to a new school, in a community i am not familiar with ,will help me to observe other cultures and help me to become more aware of behaviors I have might not observed before. This falls into Wayne States mission in to developing me into a competent social worker by advancing my awareness for other . People often say that it takes a special type of person to work in hospice, and after working in the field for almost six months, I know that I am that person, who will continue to strive for their needs .Working with people who cherish the remainder of time they have, has made me look at my own life and the things I take for granted. I am not quite sure what the future might have in store for me as a social worker, however, if I am working in hospice or working with children, I know I will be pleased.
I have never taken an online class before and I am still getting use to pipeline. I chose this class because I wanted to challenge myself with an online class and further my education to learn more about older adults.
I have created a slideshow of some of the things I like and the people I love. ENJOY! More pictures will be added as the semester continues.

- The five things I would like to learn from this class is more about the aging process and if we will be cover bereavement and loss , I hope to learn more about that.
- I would like to advance my knowledge in this class with the material given and apply it to my field and overall life.
- Since I am younger, I was hoping to learn techniques on how to talk to older adults.
- I am interesting in reading the books assigned, especially The Giver and applying it to my field.
- I hope to gain knowledge from others experiences as well and how they might handle certain situations
